Musicians’ Biography

Dready, from Jamaica (drummer and vocals)
Dready is an accomplished drummer and percussionist and a fantastic "lyricist/ MC/toaster". He played steelpan during his early years in Manchester, where he was the lead player for his school steelband and with local youth steelband "Steel Tempo". He has toured with some of the top names in the reggae business, people like Frankie Paul, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaccs, Maxi Priest...to name a few. He has toured with Finlay Quaye, and is a regular on the European music scene where he is in constant demand for studio and live sessions. He runs a thriving music studio, where he is the resident producer for many groups wanting his recognised skills to ensure top production results for their recordings.

Andi D Supadred, from Jamaica (bass player and vocals)
Supadred is one of the top bassists in the UK, with the remarkable skill of being able to play an absolutely wide range of music and styles...... from jazz and blues to deep reggae, calypso, dancehall soca and latin. He really is a maestro.......and quite a character!! He is a regular session player with bands who require those quality bass licks while on tour, so consequently Supa is headhunted for sessions.
Sometimes when the Supa is deep in the music his eyes are completely shut, which is when one starts to hear ...and feel... those wicked bass lines flowing through the grooves of Tropical Heatwave's music.

Francois "Frenchie", from Guadaloupe, French Caribbean (rhythm guitar)
Frenchie has worked in the past with the famous calypsonian, Arrow (Feeling Hot Hot Hot), Frankie Paul, Gregory Isaacs, plus a host of well known musicians and singers.
Its has been said that noboby else can "hold a riddim" like Frenchie. When he is "in the mix" one only has to look at his concentration to see where he is at, and when he smiles in that typically French Caribbean way one can easily see why Caribbean people are noted for their "warm" smiles.

Geddes, from Trinidad and Tobago (steelpans, vocals, percussion)
The leader and mentor in the band, Geddes is a multi talented individual whose skills range from being an extremely versatile and highly skilled steelpan player to being a steelpan tutor, actor, poet, percussionist, arts administrator, community arts coordinator, vocalist and all round entertainer.

He started playing the steelpan in his native Trinidad and Tobago at an early age, and when he came to England in his early teens, in the early 60's, his reputation arrived before he did, so when he arrived he was quickly recruited to join some of the established steelbands in Manchester, where he then settled.
He went on to be employed by Manchester Education Committee to teach pan in schools. After doing that for a number of years he started Tropical Heatwave, which he ran successfully for a number of years, making records and touring and playing across the UK and beyond.

He then went into the arts scene, working as an administrator for community arts organisations and local carnivals and festivals across the UK, for a number of years while doing some drama and poetry gigs in his spare time. He then moved to Coventry and then Birmingham where he worked with as a session musician with several Brum based steelbands.

After moving to London, about ten years ago, he restarted Tropical Heatwave, leading them again to be recognised as a high quality accomplished ensemble who are constantly in demand. The band is now firmly regarded as the "It" Caribbean band to have at one's event.
